Rabbi Tamar Malino has been very busy over the summer expanding our Sunday school curriculum to include all children between the ages of 5 - 13. Education professional Celeste Simone will be teaching a Sunday school class for children ages 5 - 9. Rabbi Tamar Malino, new Student Rabbi Miriam Farber, and education professional Jody Shapiro will teach the older kid's classes. Rabbi Tamar will also be teaching Adult Education classes one Sunday each month. Classes resume on Sunday, September 11. Hebrew language tutoring will also begin in September. Children's classes are held two Sundays per month throughout the school year.

The B'nai Mitzvah study program is available for students age 10 and up and their families. The B'nai mitzvah study program meets twice a month, and current class dates can be found on the home page. In addition, parents (or any other adult) have the option of attending adult education classes which meet once a month, at the same time as the B'nai mitzvah class. Click on the link for a complete summary of the B'nai mitzvah program.

New Preschool Shabbat Program! Families with young children will soon be gathering in each other's homes for an educational preschool Shabbat and potluck within two to three weeks of a major Jewish holiday. Host families will be responsible for providing a main dish, challah and refreshments. A holiday craft project and other educational materials will be provided to all participating families. You need not be a current member to attend. We hope your family can join us in this new program!

Please send questions about the education programs to bulletin@spokaneemanu-el.org or leave a message by calling (509) 990-3940.

Offered in partnership with the Harold Grinspoon Foundation, and with thanks to Gene and Gerry Huppin, the PJ Library provides FREE, high-quality Jewish books and music each month to any family raising Jewish children ages six months through eight years old in Spokane, Eastern Washington and Northern Idaho. What could be better than free books and CDs for kids? Enroll your family today, or refer this program to someone you know!
